Why do the weights sometimes vary from the published weights?

At Montiro, we are committed to achieving the highest degree of precision with regard to the weights we publish for our tents. However, as is the case with all manufacturers in the industry,  you may detect a marginal deviation in the actual weight of your tent, falling either slightly above or below the advertised specifications.

Such discrepancies are prevalent across the tent market, stemming from the intrinsic nature of tent manufacturing. In the production pipeline, natural variations in fabric compositions and coating procedures are inevitable. These nuances give rise to subtle differences in weight.

What are Trail Weight and Total Weight?

Trail Weight represents the combined weights of the tent body, rainfly, and tent poles. Total Weight, meanwhile, indicates the overall weight of the product as it comes in its ready-to-purchase package. Specifically, Total Weight incorporates the combined weights of the tent body, rainfly, tent poles, stakes, guylines, tent bag, pole bag, and stake bag. The clear differentiation between Trail Weight and Total Weight gives a thorough breakdown of the components that account for the tent's total mass, enabling more informed purchasing choices.

What exactly does "waterproof" mean when it comes to a tent, and what is the significance of the "mm" rating?

For a Montiro tent, the term "waterproof" implies that all of its exterior fabrics are treated with high-quality polyurethane coatings. The "mm" stands for millimeters, which, in accordance with industry standards, is coupled with a numerical value to denote a standardized gauge of a coating's waterproof capabilities. Take, for example, a tent with a 2000mm coating. This means it can endure the pressure exerted by a 2000mm (equivalent to 5 feet) column of water for over one minute without a single drop seeping through the fabric.

Is footprint included in the package?

A footprint is included as a gift for Triphyr 2. Please note that the F-Nexus, which is an add-on to the tent, does not come with a footprint.

Is the F-Nexus compatible with tents other than the Montiro Triphyr 2?

F-Nexus is only compatible with Montiro Triphyr 2

Should I use footprint underneath the tent?

Using footprint underneath the tent is recommended since it offers several benefits:

Enhanced Durability: The ground can be rough, littered with sharp rocks, twigs, or abrasive gravel. A footprint acts as a protective barrier between the tent floor and the ground. By taking the brunt of this abrasion, it significantly reduces wear and tear on the tent floor, ultimately prolonging the lifespan of the tent.

Improved Waterproofing: The footprint adds an extra layer of waterproofing, minimizing the chances of moisture getting into the tent from below.

Easier Cleanup: Camping can be messy, and the ground might be muddy, sandy, or covered in debris. When it's time to pack up, you can simply shake out, brush off, or hose down the footprint instead of having to meticulously clean the tent floor. This makes the post-camping cleanup process much quicker and more convenient.

Insulation: In colder weather, the footprint provides an additional insulating layer. It helps to keep the cold from the ground from seeping into the tent, making the interior space a bit warmer and more comfortable.

How to clean the tent?

Initiate tent cleaning solely when detecting a malodorous scent or observing pronounced soiling. Excessive or ill-timed cleaning can undermine the tent's long-term integrity.

Removing Loose Dirt: For minor dirt accumulation, a garden hose is the optimal choice. Its pressure efficiently removes common loose particulates accrued during outdoor activities.

Deep Cleaning: In cases of severe soiling, assemble the tent upright. Clean with warm water, a soft, absorbent sponge, and a non-detergent soap specifically designed for outdoor textiles. Avoid any harsh chemicals, as they can damage the tent fabric.

Rinsing: Execute a thorough rinse, ensuring the complete elimination of soap remnants. Lingering soap residues can gradually impair the tent's waterproof capabilities.

Drying: Opt for natural drying, either by setting up the tent in a well-ventilated area or via line-drying. Avoid dry cleaning, machine washing, or machine drying, as these processes can ablate the tent's waterproof coatings.

How to store the tent?

Tents should be completely dry before being stored in the carrying bag. Otherwise, the mildew formation process may start, which can damage the waterproof coatings. We highly recommend ensuring your tent is thoroughly dried prior to storage. When it comes to storing the tent for a long-term, keep it in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. Please note that damage caused by mildew and moisture is not covered under the Limited Warranty.

Great little tent with extra storage and EXCELLENT customer service

A great little tent! Easy and intuitive to set up, with color coded ends to the poles that coordinate with the footprint, fly, and body. The F-Nexus extension is a great "garage" for your stuff, keeping it dry and sheltered. It's also a great way to have a lot of air flow, if you have both of the doors drawn up.It does follow the rule of it fits 2 people, but you have to be very comfy with them. Or it fits one person with plenty of room. It'll just barely fit two standard inflatable mattresses in it side-by side, But then that's what the extension / garage is for isn't it?Where they truly excel is in customer service. The second time I set the tent up, in the middle of the night there was a SNAP! and one of the poles for the F-Nexus extension had snapped at the joint, tearing a hole in the sleeve (see photos). I looked up the company and wrote them directly about the problem. They had new poles nad a new F-Nexus to me within the week. Then they reengineerd the poles to have them pre-bent, so as to alleviate the etructural tension that caused the issue in the first place. How did I find this out? They reached out and wanted to send me yet another set of poles, to avoid this issue happening again. So if you've bought one and still have the straight poles, do reach out for curved replacements! They can't reach out directly on Amazon, but they are very "google-able" and responsive!

When I did have one issue, I had a response and solution within 8 hours of my email. I highly reccomend.

Great lightweight tent

I bought this tent as a marriage gift for my husband. It arrived in three small bags, but everything fits easily into one for convenience. The tent is very lightweight and easy to carry; the quality also seems quite solid (we especially liked the lightweight stakes). We did a test setup at home which was pretty simple and straightforward overall. The color-coded pole ends that match across the inner tent, rainfly, and footprint made the process much easier. The tent feels spacious – my husband is 6ft tall and can sit up inside comfortably with room to spare. It’s a great size for two people to sleep in, and has two small pockets and one large pocket for storing items inside. The extension is a big plus which adds extra space, and we thought it would be perfect for setting up a small table to eat or play games. Overall my husband is really happy with it, and we are both excited to try it out on our next camping trip!

Back packing tent that provides versatility and is light weight

SummaryAn amazing tent pack full of features and versatility. Big enough for two people or one comfortably. Light weight and high quality materials. At this time I can't say on its long term durability. There are a few quarks with this tent but nothing that a more experience camper couldn't figure out or address.Pros-Aluminum poles and tent stakes-Extra large vestibule area-Color coded pole ends and color coded aluminum pole tabs-comes with foot print-3 access doors and pockets inside the tent for your gear-every thing can pack into one bagCons- vestibule was a bit confusing to use. (It clips onto the tent poles and utilizes the doors zipper to zip onto ... This part is a pro)-vestibule pole, pole sleeve and tabs could be a third color for easy identification- I cant understand why some zippers are water proof and some are not?- lastly probably a QA/QC thing but I was missing a zipper on the vestibule.

Really nice tent. Got it for $205. Sturdy, light, roomy with decent head room, lots of ventilation, easy to set up. The vestibule is a big plus. I haven't taken it out camping yet.

nice

Been using this tent for a few trips now, and it's been working great. The attachable extension adds a lot of flexibility—I use it to store all our gear when camping with family, which keeps the main area clear and comfortable for sleeping. Sets up quickly, feels solid, and I haven't had any issues so far. Really happy with it.

Awesome choice

I camp a lot with my dog, and this tent has been great for us. The main tent is quite spacious, so even when my dog sleeps inside with me, it never feels crowded. The extension area also works really well-sometimes he takes a nap in there. It's also great for storing our gear, keeping everything organized. Setup is easy, and overall, I'm really happy with it so far.
